Anyways.

This is the end of “Government Paranoia Week.” I hope you have enjoyed our first themed week, and I hope you have learned a little more about yourself, your government, and/or your expectations.

I know this is much more of a commentary, but it is important. In my beginning rant, I said a couple of things about “so what.” I want to make myself very clear. The government HAS stepped beyond it’s boundaries. I am not a super conspiracy theorists, like some out there, but I do believe that we have let the government become a monster. Regulation has become something obscene and people actually WANT it. Aimee sent me a rant I chose not to post on government spying and regulation, and I want to give you a link she sent with it about banking regulations…

People yammer and complain about how bad capitalism is. A piece of information. We are not in a capitalist environment. To be truly capitalist, it needs to be laissez-faire… no government involved. The government regulation has helped make things where they are. Granted, government regulation has helped in a lot of ways. But, did we need the government to do it? People place so little faith in themselves, and in others, that they refuse to trust or work together. Here is the bottom line… if a job or situation is bad, you find another. In a true capitalist environment, there will always be someone or something better, especially if the someone or something you are dealing with is bad or unscrupulous.

We are consumers. We live in a consumerist environment. Do not be fooled.

And, hey, fix my damn roads.

(I actually just read something interesting. I found out that most, if not all, road repair is payed directly by home and property owners in the form of special taxes and assessments. I’m not very happy about this … ESPECIALLY since are roads are still horrid.)
