“Nothing can be changed!” they chant, and “you can’t really know anything!”
Well, here is one of the reasons why it is so important to me. First, in the current situation of the conceptual human being and his knowledge, I think it is more important to have A belief, whether it be right or wrong. But, a person needs to have a belief and know why they have it. By doing what I do and by talking and debating with people, I help myself and them better realize our beliefs and values.
One of the horrible things that happens when you don’t know your beliefs and values is that it is hard to have self worth or be happy. How can you love yourself if you do not know who you are loving. There are a lot of ways people try to make up for a lack of self worth based on a lack of a true understanding of their own beliefs.
One of these ways is grasping at a belief blindly. For someone who has to sit, and ponder, and defend a belief… it is very rare to truly see one in which people are hurt. However, when people blindly grasp to a belief, all of the people who don’t share that belief are wrong, or evil, or whatever. And, for those of you who may be making the assumption, I am not just referring to blind, unknowledge religious belief. Most people live their lives with this void of grasping.
People get hurt because of this.
People die because of this.
And it just does not need to happen.
