Allright,

Things have been pretty crazy the last couple of weeks but.. soon, my precious.. soon… We shall have Uncouth moving fast again.

And that should spurn me on to the next phase! We shall sally forth upon their fields! Burn their villages! Eat their dead!

Or, uhm, just write some stuff, yeah.

Until then, enjoy!

Isaac.

Slowly, but surely..

Muhahhaha!

Anyways, I’m very happy with the new look. I’ve been tweaking some of the bugs in it and everything should be pretty smooth. I still need to do some small updating and I need to also get a scheme for the side boxes. We’ll see.

I’m currently working on the preferences, although let’s define “working” liberally in this case. Afterthat, I will be starting on the Rant Pages. Also, at some point, I’m going to be updating the login script and creating a secondary one, as I know there have been some problems.

I guess that’s about it….

Just working away.

I have some very cool ideas I’m going to start putting in place. I’m estimating about three weeks of coding time. I’ve been put in charge of setting up a very nice and, at least for me, very advanced network at work. So my head has been severely twisted.

Also, however, a lot has been going on and I think it’s kind of lit a small fire under me. Hopefully it will keep burning.

Looking forward to the Uncouth Rant Pages… and in the meantime, enjoy a small poem that sums things up for me:

Damned Lies
and misplaced passion
Forgoing self-control
Living in the vortex
A whirlwind of emotions
Spurring your actions
Clouding the world
True sight vanished

Tongue waggling
Fists swinging
Beat your child!
Hate your wife!
Screw the world!

It’s just what you feel…

Isaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac…..

Why is the site sooo slow?

Isaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac….

Why is the site down?

Isaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaac….

Fix it!

Allright! I know! There have been some severe problems with the server. I swear it is nothing to do with the code! The “code” side of the site is fine, it is hardware technical problems, it seems, that are causing all of these problems.

I have no posted updates because of all the problems. We’ve got some articles waiting to be posted, but I’d rather they actually get read and enjoyed.. rather than sitting and festering, like old rotten wounds.

I’ve also put some work into the user system and you should see the beta version of that being released fairly soon. But not until I’m sure the site is staying up and running smoothly.

So, until they, enjoy some of the old articles and I might post one or two things to get a little new blood in.

Okay.

I updated some of the login code, so those of you who had problems… they should hopefully be gone. And if you start having problems, please let me know.

I started to put some work into the Devonshire site this weekend. I did not get as far as I would have liked. I’m still pretty sad. I had someone committed to design it for me, so all I was going to do was build the back end, but that fell through some time ago. I will get to it though.

However, I have to first work on a project to build an online gaming clan website. Hey, I’m getting paid for it.

Also, I’m going to finish moving the archive over in the next day or two. I’ll have all the old “Uncouth News”, a now defunct mock news segment, Punkerslut’s articles which someone got pushed aside in the shuffle, and all the poetry and writing that I just seem to love to force on you.

Also, look ahead for very soon, Sara (Melodramatic.com) and I will be putting together a Sex and Relationships talk show, hosted on OuchFM! We don’t have the exact time frame, but it will be in the VERY, VERY near future. You’ve heard me complain about LoveLine… now I’m doing something about it.

I’m glad to see the comments now that the system actually works right…

Isaac.

Allright, I put some more work into the code this week, finally.

The largest thing I fixed was the comment system problem. Here I was thinking everyone was just ignoring it, and it turns out that I’m the monkey. I used the wrong database type and all of the comments where going to article number #127… heh. So, that is fixed. I also changed the color of the “# comments” to be yellow, make it stand out a little more.

I am also working on the user profile system, but I’ve been kind of a slacker about it, so I’ll get on it. There will be some basic preference settings and the ability to have new posts emailed to you and all the fun jazz.

I will also be setting up a submission system for weekly picks, so you can add your own suggestions to my limited list.

Also, because of the fiasco with the comment system, I will be setting up some sort of bug tracking thingee as well, but that’s further down the list in my mind.

If you have any thoughts, please email me!

Isaac!

I WILL KILL YOU ALL!

So, we’re having all of these technical problems and I can’t figure out what the hell is going on. I finally break down to try to talk to Phil and he’s gone for the wonderful blues festival for the weekend.

Punk.

I actually get to talk to him this morning and… it all just works. I still think he did something and didn’t tell me. I’m surrounded by liars. Heh.

Seriously, though, everything should be bleeding working again. Please email me if you have any problems. As the day goes on, I’ll get everything updated and fixed, including the two rants from last week I keep losing.

So, now, here’s the deal. I’ve noticed that it looks like people only read this little article here and think the site is not getting updated. So, I may start posting all the rants here first, to fit a little more with our format. I’m not sure, but email me with any thoughts.

Also, I want to remind you… ANYONE can submit and article or news story! Just look for the submission links!

Thanks!

Isaac.

Well, the first week of successful runnings of the new code and I am pretty happy. There have been some small problems, but they’ve all been of my doing (haha.. as if they aren’t -all- my doing for coding the damend thing), but they’ve all been resolved. I’ve fixed a lot of things such as you can use a new line in the comment and article entry areas, instead of using html.

Here are my next couple of plans:

- Increased flexibility in the user system (including actually being able to edit your information.. woo!)

- A better credits page

- A more flexible comment system

- And much, much more!

I’ve also heard some rumors that there have been problems with logging in. If you have had this problem, please email me at isaacs@uncouth.net.

Now, go read and submit!

Isaac.

Oh, and as an aside, I’ve been enslaved over at Conversawang to do some writing… you should go check it out.

Article Submission Guidelines

Uncouth.net has taken a path not chosen by many. Our goal is that every person has the ability to contribute their thoughts and ideas to our community, but also have the ability to get their posts edited by the Uncouth editing staff. From our experiences, most websites either have an elite team of writers or a sloppy “everyone can post anything” system. While we still have a comment system and forums, we also believe in havg clean and crisp articles and rants, but we want to allow everyone the opportunity to present their thoughts and ideas.

We do not, as it stands, believe in censorship. However, we do believe in a professional style and approach to writing. Our ideas of professional are still not the norm of the world. So, in submitting and article to Uncouth, we will -never- censor anything… but our editorial process does ake our goals and visions as a whole into mind.

Here are some simple guidelines to follow:

- We do not support hate of any sort. It is very possible to critize and discuss ideas, beliefs, and people in a constructive and non-abusive manner. Please do not add to the hate already in the world. This is what we strive most to fight.

- There are no “bad” words, but there are pointless use of words. Generally words considered to be “profane” are used and abused by those who generally spout them. Every word has it’s purposes–do not overuse. If something deserves an emotion, we proudly adhere to using it. But, if it does not need to be used… don’t use it.

- Rants and articles do not need to be any length. They can be long or short (Isaac has many rants that are only a few short sentences) … but ensure there is some actual content to the piece.

- We consider the most important focus of philosophy, theology, and all of our ideas to be on Daily Life. Our experiences shape who we are, and by sharing those experiences, we can also learn and grow. The most attached to reality and true life experiences, the more people will respond and attach themselves to your writing.

Our Mission
Uncouth.net was founded with the intention of bringing our message to the world at large. We have plenty to say and not enough forums to do it in. The original idea spawned when I had the idea to start a “ranting” journal, wherein I wrote down everything that angered or upset me, and that I was not able to find a suitable outlet to argue about it. Then, I got the idea to include people I knew in this fiasco, and soon it became the basis for a website. That idea has spawned into Uncouth.net and hopefully it will spawn into even more ventures.-Isaac S.

Uncouth adj. 1. Speaking or acting crudely; unrefined. 2. Awkward or clumsy; ungainly.

Rant v. To speak loudly, wildly, and at length; rave.

“A rant is not synonymous with an angstful bitch. At least, our rants are not. Our rants are rational criticism
of the world around us and people’s interaction with reality.”- Isaac S.

WARNING
We are here to say what we think! This website is designed for all ages, but the content is mature. There will be no pornography, explicit sexual content, or obscene language. If you read this website, the chances of you having to think are going to be very large. We are not out to offend or attack anyone, but people will be offended by what we say. This is good. If you disagree with something, WE WANT TO KNOW. We have an email set up just for this, hatemail@uncouth.net. Please email us with your comments, because we are interested. We will try to make a reponse to any emails that are actual arguements or comments. You can also email any author at their email, which are listed in the credits section and at the end of any piece written by them (unless it is a guest article, then it will only be listed on the article). Remember, we are not out to offend anyone, but we are here to speak our minds.

Submissions
One of the greatest things Uncouth was founded on is fostering and growing each individual’s voice. Thus, we all prosper and grow from your submissions! Simply sign up for an account and rant your heart away!
